Fun with "Google Trends"

While this is completely unrelated to movie reviews, Google Trends is one of the most interesting pages on the internet that I’ve found. It graphs searches over a time period to show their volume, and also shows what the most popular cities searched on that topic. Some interesting searches I’ve found:

- ”Osama”, most popular city? Washington D.C.

- “Pepto Bismol”, most popular city? Orlando, Florida (must be those retirees)

- “Suri” shows a *huge* spike right around the announcement of the baby (duh)

- “God”, most popular city was St. Louis, MO

- “Goats” featured Australia and New Zealand occupying 5 out of the 10 top cities, including #1

- “Tumor” … Chennai, India, with a spike when Jonnie Cochran died (I guess he’s a big star there?)

- “Katrina” was completely off the charts around the hurricane, with top searches coming from New Orleans and Baton Rouge

- Searching for any specific date (sans year) brings up annual spikes

- Hmm…. Australia had 4 out of the top 5 searches, including #1, for the phrase “bomb making.”

- “Michael Jackson”… top two cities? Lima, Peru and Caracas, Venezuela !?

Post any other interesting ones you find!
